The economy of Magic the Gathering Arena is made up of two currencies—gems and gold.

Gems

What’s it used for?

Gems are used to enter events and buying card packs. Packs cost 1,000 gold or 200 gems.

How to get it?

Gems can be earned from events or purchased with real money. You can buy gems from the store at the following rates (US Dollars):

  • 750 gems for $4.99 (150 gems per dollar)
  • 1,600 gems for $9.99 (160 gems per dollar)
  • 3,400 gems for $19.99 (170 gems per dollar)
  • 9,200 gems for $49.99 (184 gems per dollar)
  • 22,000 gems for $99.99 (220 gems per dollar)

As you can see above, the more gems you buy in bulk, the cheaper they become. You get 46.7% more gems when you buy it at the biggest bulk of 22,000 versus the smallest bundle (750 gems).

Tip: Convert Gold to Gems
Gems are more valuable since they can be used to enter more competitive events, making it more flexible than gold. You can enter events like Regular Draft using gold and the winnings you get are paid in Gems.

Gold

What’s it used for?

Gold are used to enter events (not all of them, some events accept gems only) and buying card packs. Packs cost 1,000 gold each.
